My Dr. Oblivion Story Sees The Light Of Day!!!
Awhile back (a LONG while back) I wrote a back-up story for Dr. Oblivion's Guide To Teenage Dating drawn by my Philly partner Jim Hanna. Never knew what became of it...until now! The TPB is finally available (CLICK RIGHT HERE) over at ComiXpress! YAY! MORE RYAN WRITING IS GREAT! Plus the comic miniseries itself is kick-fracking-ass. What's it about: Being a Super-Villain is hard work. Especially when you re raising a 16-year old daughter on your own. Dr. Oblivion pulls double duty as a single father and world's worst super-villain. Things get harder, when his little girl wants to start dating a spikey haired boy in her school. They get even worse when he finds out her new boyfriend is the town's teen superhero, The Mongoose! Join Dr. Oblivion, his daughter Callie and The Mongoose in a story about love, loss and taking over the world in: Dr. Oblivion s Guide to Teenage Dating ! 120 Pages | Black & White TPB Digest Friday, April 10. 2009Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) Defined tags for this entry: chris and vernbugg, chris and vernbugg omnibus, dave lafuente, hc noel, ryan mclelland, sean wang
Chris And Vernbugg Omnibus Available!Unless you were in high school or college with me you probably never knew that I drew comics. "Draw" is a relative term here - I didn't have much ability but I did what I could. In college I actually did about 5 10-paged comics as add-ins to the school paper. Here, for the first time and in limited numbers, are those comics. The cool thing? We gots a Dave LaFuente cover (he currently draws Ultimate Spider-Man) and has a bunch of other pin-ups by HC Noel, Sean Wang, Bob Lipski, and countless others. And the comics themselves are still pretty damn funny and alot of fun. Available now in VERY VERY limited numbers in the store: http://eyewannabe.bizium.com. I snatched this story from Variety - I'm REALLY excited about a film like this. Supervillians working together for the government...you could win your freedom or just be cannon fodder...but either way we'll get to see DEADSHOT on the big screen. I'm already smiling! From Variety: Warner Bros. is going on a suicide mission, setting up the DC Comics property "Suicide Squad" for Dan Lin ("Sherlock Holmes") to produce as a potential franchise.
Stephen Gilchrist from Lin Pictures will co-produce. Justin Marks ("20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," "Hack/Slash," "Street Fighter") is penning the screenplay. "Suicide Squad" will feature a mix of well-known and unknown villains recruited by the government to accomplish a task deemed too dangerous for superheroes. The historically independent operators must bury their own interpersonal conflicts and agendas to form a cohesive unit to take on a singular task. Lin's a former Warner exec who set up his own Warner-based shingle at the start of last year. Besides producing "Sherlock Holmes," starring Robert Downey Jr., Lin's a producer on "This Side of the Truth" and "The Box" and an exec producer on "Terminator Salvation" and "Shorts." An Ed Coutts Terrace!
Diggin around the Sentinels blog yesterday I found yet another sketch of mine and Drew's Terrace from the Sentinels Anthology! This one was drawn by Ed Coutts...Rich Bernatovech wrote... "Ed is an illustrator who works in pencil, inks and paint. He is very well know for his "good girl" art and has done covers and interior pages for AC Comic's FemForce as well as numerous other publishers. Check out Ed's website at http://www.edcouttsart.com/ " Good deal man! I love Terrace and hopefully Rich uses her in the future...or maybe Drew and I can use her again in our upcoming normal JOE series....thoughts Drew? Pleasant Life: What We Leave BehindPRESS RELEASE: Marking his fifteen year anniversary as successful independent publisher, WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL...Adam is an awesome buddy of mine. We met via Pleasant Life (back when it was Pleasant Hymns) and I loved the book - reviewed over at Newsarama. A friendship was struck and we moved on to collaborate with the new Wise Intelligence miniseries. What can I say? The guys loves to draw college comics...and is damn good at it. This is the final chapter of his book so I urge all of you comic lovers there looking for a great read to pick it up! A Rob Reilly 'Terrace'
Last year Andrew Charipar and I teamed-up to write one of the interweaving stories in Rich Bernatovech's Sentinels Anthology. It was a lot of fun working with Drew and Rich...our story turned out fantastic! We created a whole new villain for Rich's world - a gung-ho superpowered girl who isn't playing with all her cards: TERRACE! She was alot of fun and Andrew did an awesome job with her. At this year's New York Con Rich went to get a sketch from Rob Reilly and he chose to do our little Terrace! An awesome job with our lil' redhead. Pimp out Rob's work at: www.skatoonproductions.blogspot.com/ And check out the Sentinels, and buy the Sentinels Anthology, at: www.sentinelsonline.com Wednesday, August 13. 2008Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) Philly - FREE At Komikwerks!
For those who missed it in comic stores (or over at Drunk Duck) we've got lots of Philly action over at Komikwerks! Monday, May 12. 2008Comments (0) Trackbacks (0) Eye Wannabe New Grunts TPB InfoI wrote a story for the Grunts TPB way over a year ago. Shannon Eric Denton wanted to make the TPB the biggest and best thing ever and get a slew of talent to write a bunch of guest stories for the trade. Then something funny happened. The trade came out and reprinted the three issues of Grunts. NO bonus stories. Shannon finally got back on what's going on with it: As you may have already gathered, Sean O'Reilly of Arcana pulled all the back up stories at the last minute and told me they would run in a separate TPB called WAR STORIES that would come out in September. I have now been told by him it will come out sometime in 2009.
